A beautifully understated vintage Ewe Kente cloth from the 1960s, featuring a refined composition of white and indigo-blue block motifs woven in a rhythmic geometric pattern. Originating from the Volta Region of Ghana, this textile reflects the quiet sophistication and craftsmanship of traditional Ewe weaving.

Each strip was individually handwoven on a narrow loom using hand spun thread before being carefully joined together to form the complete cloth. The deep blue detailing was traditionally dyed with indigo, creating a subtle contrast against the soft white cotton ground and giving the textile its calm, architectural character.

Over time, the cloth has developed gentle fading and soft tonal variations due to age, adding to its authenticity, history and vintage appeal. These natural signs of wear enhance the character of the textile and speak to its journey through time.

Minimal yet deeply expressive, this piece showcases the beauty of precision weaving, natural materials and traditional textile techniques. Its balanced grid-like pattern gives it a timeless, almost modern aesthetic while remaining rooted in Ghanaian heritage.

Perfect as a collector’s textile, wall hanging, interior décor statement or wearable heritage cloth.
