A beautifully preserved example of mid-century Ewe ceremonial weaving, this handwoven Ewe Kente cloth dates to the 1950s and originates from the Volta Region of Ghana.

Featuring an elegant composition of indigo-blue geometric motifs set against a soft natural ground, the cloth reflects the refined visual language and symbolism characteristic of Ewe weaving traditions. The rhythmic arrangement of abstract forms and linear detailing creates a striking balance between minimalism and complexity.

Historically, cloths of this nature were worn during important ceremonial occasions including weddings, naming ceremonies and significant social gatherings, where textile artistry carried cultural meaning, status, and identity. Today, the piece stands equally as a collectible heritage textile and a sophisticated interior statement.

Gentle signs of age and wear are consistent with the history of the cloth and contribute to its authenticity and character.
